CHICAGO — Authorities responded to two shooting incidents on Wednesday, one following a parade on Ryan Street and another on the Kennedy Expressway near Ogden Avenue.
The first incident occurred in a parking lot near Ryan and Alamo on the city’s east side. Law enforcement reported that one individual was hospitalized but is in stable condition. A person of interest has been detained, and the sheriff’s office is on scene conducting interviews to determine the circumstances of the shooting.
Later in the afternoon, Illinois State Police responded to reports of a shooting on the southbound Kennedy Expressway (I‑90/I‑94) near Ogden Avenue in the River West neighborhood just before 3:15 p.m. All inbound lanes of the expressway between North Avenue and the Ohio Feeder Ramp were temporarily closed for the investigation. Lanes reopened around 6:47 p.m.
ISP confirmed that injuries were reported in the expressway shooting, though details regarding the number of victims, the severity of injuries, or whether they were caused by gunfire have not been released. Authorities continue to investigate both incidents and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
Motorists in affected areas were advised to use alternate routes while emergency personnel responded. Officials emphasized that public safety remains a priority as investigations continue.
